Production runs, done in house

When a part moves from prototype to production, the job changes. It stops being about one good part and becomes about the hundredth being as good as the first. We machine full production batches in our own workshop in Hamilton, milling and turning under one roof.

We work in plastics, copper, aluminium, stainless and hardened steel, and on most materials we hold ±0.01mm. The people who price your batch are the people who run the machines, so the lead time you're given is one we can hit.

How we check a batch

We measure every part against your drawing before it leaves the workshop. That's how what turns up on your site fits first time.

Our micrometers, calipers and gauges are calibrated and traceable. If your job needs inspection paperwork, we supply it with the parts, including first article reports.

What to tell us when you ask for a batch quote

Send the drawing, the material and the quantity. The quantity matters more on a batch than anywhere else, so give us your best idea of how many you need, and when you need them by.

Tell us what the parts do and where they're going. It helps us quote the job right.

If you expect to order the same part again, mention it. It's useful for us to know when we price the first batch, and it costs you nothing to say so.

A short phone call is often quicker than a long email chain, especially for a first batch. You'll speak to someone who works on the machines.

If you want parts that need more than one process, say so. Milling, turning, water jet profiling and fabrication are all done in the same workshop, so one quote can cover the lot.

We take DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, STL, PDF, JPG and PNG files, up to four on the quote form and 4MB in total. For anything bigger, email it over.

Before you order a batch

If you've had prototypes made, make sure the drawing you send reflects the version you approved. Put the revision on it, and tell us if anything changed after the prototypes.

Tell us how you want the parts packed and where they're going. It's a small detail that is easy to leave until the end, and it's better settled before the job starts.
