Pockets, profiles and awkward contours, from a single prototype to a full production batch, held to tolerance.
We mill parts in our own workshop in Hamilton, on a 5 axis machine with a 1200 by 750mm bed. That covers pockets, profiles and awkward contours, and it covers one prototype just as well as a full production batch.
On most materials we hold ±0.01mm. We machine plastics, copper, aluminium, stainless and hardened steel, so if you're not sure what suits the job, tell us what the part has to do and we'll advise.
The price comes from the people who'll make the part. They know how long it takes on the machine, so the lead time you're given is one we can hit.
A drawing is the best place to start. A good quote request has the drawing, the material, how many you need, the tolerances that matter and when you need the parts by. If all you have is a model or a sketch, send that. We'd rather see something than nothing.
It helps if you tell us which dimensions really matter. Not every feature needs the tightest tolerance, and knowing which ones do lets us quote the job right the first time.
We take DXF, DWG, STEP, IGES, STL, PDF, JPG and PNG files. You can upload up to four of them on the quote form, 4MB in total. If your files are bigger than that, email them to us instead.
A few small things on the drawing save a lot of back and forth. Put a revision number on it so we know we're quoting the latest version. Show hole sizes and any threads clearly. Say what finish you want, and whether sharp edges should be broken.
If a pocket is deep and narrow, or a wall is thin, flag it. Those are the features that decide how a part is held and how long it takes, and we'd rather talk about them before we quote than after we've started.
We measure every part against your drawing before it leaves the workshop. Our micrometers, calipers and gauges are calibrated and traceable, and if your job needs inspection paperwork, such as a first article report, we supply it with the parts.
J.N.R. is a family run engineering firm. We've been in Hamilton since 2006. When you phone, you speak to someone who works on the machines, not a sales desk.
The workshop is open Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30 and Friday 07:30 to 14:30. If you have a breakdown or an urgent job, say so on the form and phone us as well, and we'll turn it round as fast as the job allows.
Our 5 axis machine has a 1200 by 750mm bed. If your part is close to that size, or bigger, send the drawing and we'll tell you what we can do.
We hold ±0.01mm on most materials. Mark the dimensions that need it on your drawing and we'll confirm it on the quote.
